Fine craftsmanship graces both single family homes and condominium towers
Beaverhall Homes is a leading builder of starter homes, luxury estates, and condominium towers in the Greater Toronto area. The company was founded in1998, by Ami Tamam, an émigré from Israel, who has nearly 35 years of experience in the residential building marketplace. The company has a strong reputation for the quality of its craftsmanship, its high construction standards, its innovative interior design features, and its superior customer service. Today, thousands of people live in Beaverhall developments.
Some of Beaverhall’s home community projects include: Thornhill Woods in the city of Vaughan, Main Street Village in Milton, Foxglen and Shipp Place in Mississauga, Brookwood and Parkside Walk in Whitby, Mackenzie Glen in Maple, and Bridlewood in Scarborough. Beaverhall has also built luxury estate developments in two locations – the Regency Estates in Woodbridge is a collection of 34 manor homes built on deep and wide lots; and Forestwood in Milton has 74 single family homes and townhouses.
Beaverhall’s first condominium project was the Europa, built in 2007, in the Little Italy neighborhood of Toronto’s West End. Situated in a borough of quaint cafes and boutiques, the eight-story building has 113 units, ranging in size from 450 to 1267 square feet. Each suite features granite-tiled flooring and marble countertops.
The company’s second high-rise development is the Ocean Club Condominium in Etobicoke. Construction of its two buildings – one of 10 stories and another of 39 – began in early 2012 and was completed just this year. The waterfront development has 516 units and affords its residents stunning views of the Toronto skyline and Lake Ontario. The Ocean Club is also close to a variety of outdoor amenities, such as the Martin Goodman Trail on the waterfront, as well as parks, marinas, and yacht clubs. It also offers easy access to Toronto’s many cultural, entertainment, and shopping venues.
A third Beaverhall condo project completed in 2015 is the Mercer. The 33 story, 412 unit building is located in downtown Toronto, in the heart of the city’s entertainment district, and across the street from Metro Hall and the underground PATH station. The building’s living spaces were designed to make downtown living “elegant and urbane.” Amenities include a fitness center, a party room, a screening room, and a Scandinavian-inspired sauna and spa area. Perhaps the Mercer’s most stunning feature is a 10,000 square foot terrace on the building’s sixth floor that includes private lounges, a games area, a kitchen and dining area, an outdoor movie viewing wall, and a long reflecting pool. In addition, views of the Toronto Skyline are equally compelling whether one looks east or west.
With a portfolio this extensive, how does Beaverhall Homes maintain its consistently high level of quality? Paul Chianelli is a General Manager at Beaverhall Homes. He describes Ami Tamam’s building acumen as well as his business philosophy: “He always looks for good pieces [of property] and good locations and he always stands behind building a quality product for the customers and for himself. And he takes pride in what he builds. He actually takes the time to walk through all of the buildings and all of the houses to make sure they’re built to his satisfaction.”
Ami Tamam, himself, is proud of his hands-on approach and feels that is what differentiates his company from other builders: “First of all, I’m on site all the time,” he says. “You won’t find another builder in Toronto who walks through the units. I walk all the units, I walk all the houses. I watch through the construction, through the finishing, and I try to bring to the customer the best house I can, like I was building it for myself.” Chianelli elaborates on Ami Tamam’s on-site supervision of contractors and laborers: “When it comes to trades, he picks quality trades. He may pay a little bit more to somebody because he knows they’ll do a quality job. It’s not always about the cheapest price. It’s all about quality.”
Another element of pride is the fact that the company’s developments, time after time, come in under budget and ahead of schedule. Banks are enthusiastic about extending credit to Ami Tamam, because Beaverhall Homes generally completes construction and occupancy milestones well in advance of its original financial market targets and well ahead of other benchmark projects in Toronto’s construction industry.
Similarly, Ami Tamam’s solid status is a plus for the company’s ability to market its homes and condos. Chianelli says, “He gets more money because of his reputation and he gets a lot of repeat buyers.” Elisa Pennino, another Beaverhall General Manager, adds, “We sell most of our products through word of mouth.”
Over the next five to ten years, Ami Tamam would like to keep building and expanding the Beaverhall portfolio as he believes that continual growth is a very important aspect of creating a successful business. He also believes that it’s important to attend to every detail “seven days a week and 24 hours a day,” if necessary.
As Beaverhall Homes looks ahead, it can rely on its leader’s in-depth knowledge of the construction industry and his hands-on experience to ensure the success of every project it undertakes from start to finish. This industry-leading home building organization that serves the Greater Toronto marketplace intends to keep building upward and outward, while continuing to stay dedicated to its high standards of quality.
